About The Co-op Café
Two Decades of Fantastic Food
For over twenty years, people have been gathering at the Co-op to enjoy coffee and food made in-house. In 1995, a few years after the Blue Hill Co-op moved into the old location at 4 Ellsworth Road, a kitchen was squeezed into the back corner. At first, a local bakery subleased the space, but in 2001 when the office space next door opened up, the Co-op was expanded to include a café seating area, and the Co-op started creating its own food.
From its earliest days, The Co-op Café has focused on providing delicious, healthy food with the best-sourced ingredients. We take great pride in providing meals for all kinds of dietary preferences and restrictions, with gluten-free and vegan options available every day.
When the Blue Hill Co-op began designing the new location at 70 South Street, the Café was expanded, making the kitchen more than three times bigger. The seating area became an ample gathering space at the front of the building with a patio for outdoor dining. It’s a community space where events are hosted, musicians can perform, and people can socialize, all while enjoying yummy, down-home cooking. Another new addition, the Hot Bar, has an alternating selection of flavorful dishes prepared daily. The Salad Bar has a variety of fresh organic veggies, and other ingredients, like feta cheese and Kalamata olives.
The counter serves made-to-order breakfast, smoothies, paninis, burgers, and tacos. See the menu here.
